Our History

Skillman Doors was founded in 1945 by a family who had a vision of providing the highest quality garage doors and openers to the residents of Northern New Jersey. Over the years, we have built a reputation for our exceptional work, dedication to our customers, and commitment to excellence. We are proud to have served three generations of the same family and to have been a part of the International Door Association (IDA) since its inception.

Our Team

Our team is led by Bill Kohlman, Sr., who has been in the garage door industry for over 45 years. He is a founding member of the IDA and has successfully completed numerous examinations to prove his competence, professionalism, and knowledge of the industry. Bill's wife, Kathy, manages the business affairs of Skillman Doors, and their son, Bill Jr., oversees customer projects and trains all installers in IDA professional standards. Our team is dedicated to providing the best service possible and ensuring that our customers are completely satisfied with their garage door and opener needs.
